Lead Testing
Using state of the art technology, Parklam Environmental, provides lead testing, lead-based paint risk assessment, inspection, job specification development, clearance examination, consulting services and more.
Lead Paint Inspection
A lead paint inspection is a surface-by-surface investigation to determine the presence of lead-based paint and a report of the results.
Lead Clearance Testing
The collection of paint chip and environmental samples by an inspector or risk assessor and analysis by an accredited laboratory, prior to work being performed, upon completion of an abatement project, interim control intervention or maintenance of any job that is suspected to disturb lead based paint in homes constructed prior to 1978. The clearance examination is performed to ensure that lead exposure level do not exceed standards established by the EPA TSCA 403, and that any cleaning following such work adequately meets those standards.
XRF Analyzer
The XRF Analyzer is an instrument that can determine lead concentrations in paint films in milligrams per square centimeters (mg/cm2), settled dust wipe samples in micrograms per wipe (Ug/m3) using the principles of X-ray fluorescence (XRF). Since not all XRF machines are created equal, Parklam Environmental, LLC only use XRF instruments that has no inconclusive range and requires no substrate corrections.
Lead Risk Assessment
Lead Risk Assessment is an on-site investigation of a residential dwelling to discover any lead-based paint hazards. Lead-based paint hazards are conditions that will cause adverse health effects. A Lead Risk Assessment is the investigation of the building – its age, history, management, and maintenance and the number of children under six years of age and women of childbearing age who are residents. A Lead Risk Assessment also includes a visual assessment, limited environmental testing, such as dust wipe sampling, soil sampling, and chip sampling and collection, and preparation of a report identifying acceptable abatement and interim control strategies based on specific conditions.
Lead Abatement Plan
Parklam Environmental can also write a lead abatement plan, if requested, for the third-party lead abatement firm that you select. This sets forth strict guidelines that the firm must follow to ensure that lead hazards are not disbursed further into the home. Upon completion of the abatement, Parklam Environmental then conducts clearance testing, to ensure that the source of the lead hazard has been completely abated and EPA or HUD guidelines are now met.
Both EPA and HUD have authority to define their acceptable hazard levels.
Lead Consulting and Monitoring
Parklam Environmental can provide answers to all your lead related questions. Project Monitoring allows Parklam Environmental to act as the building owners’ eyes and ears to ensure that all contract and abatement specifications are being adhered to by the contractor.
